Some of the Visa requirements
- There is no prerequisite of 'Visa on landing' in India. Foreign tourists are advised to ensure that they are in possession of valid Indian Visa before their starting of journey to India.
- There are different sections of visa with exact endorsement of numbers of entries permissible and length of stay in India is mentioned on the visa based upon request and following decision of the visa issuing authority. Foreign tourists may also look for exact endorsement if any, on the visa for their guidance.
- Nepal and Bhutan nationals do not necessitate visa to enter India.
- Nationals of Maldives do not necessitate a visa for entry into India on tourism basis and can stay up to 90 days.
- A separate Visa regime is present for diplomatic/official passport holders.
- Indian currency correspondent to US$50 is charged for TLP (Temporary Landing Permit) /TLF (Temporary Landing Facility).
- A foreigner can be denied entrance, if he/she is not coming in India from the selected port, not having valid passport and visa, is not mentally sound or suffering from communicable or loathsome disease which can prove dangerous to public health, involved in an extraditable offence or his/her entry is denied under the precise rules of the Central government.

Immigration requirements -
- Immigration check is done for all passengers at the port of arrival in India.
- The passengers are required to show original documents in the disembarkation card( Arrival Card) as to his name and nationality, his age, sex, place of birth and address or known address in India, the reason of his visit and the proposed period of stay in India.
- Immigration check involves Passport checking, Disembarkation Card, Visa, entering foreigner’s details in computer, preservation of Arrival Card and stamping of passport of the foreigner.
- Afghanistan Nationals are issued Provisional Residential Permit at the immigration point, with instructions to get themselves registered within 7 days with the appropriate/concerned FRRO/FRO of their place of stay.
